HISTORY

Founded in 2005, the ABA’s principle aims are to be the voice of the bioplastics industry and to facilitate the market introduction of bioplastics throughout Australia and New Zealand.
From about 2003 it was recognised that an industry body to represent the bioplastics industry in Australia and New Zealand was required as a contact point for government, industry, educators, the media and the greater community.
Today the ABA has grown to 28 members from Australia and New Zealand, and influences government policy and industry through its leadership position in bioplastics. The Association’s voluntary verification program is endorsed by parallel industry Associations such as the Australian Organics Recycling Association , (AORA) and  the Organic Materials Sector Group from WasteMINZ in New Zealand.

The ABA is working closely with the Australian composting industry in an effort to minimize any adverse affects we might have on their processes and to encourage as wide spread acceptance as possible.
