Auspack Plus 2011

A growing interest in green plastics technology will see the Bioplastics pavilion return as a key feature at this year’s Australian packaging exhibition, AUSPACK PLUS.

The Bioplastics pavilion, introduced in 2009, will allow industry experts to come together under one roof to help the visitors understand bioplastics. The pavilion will consist of members of the Australasian Bioplastics Association (ABA).

Companies that will be exhibiting on the pavilion include:

•    Amcor,
•    BASF Australia,
•    BioBag Australasia,
•    BIOPAK,
•    Cardia BioPlastics,
•    Innovia Films,
•    Nature Works LLC and
•    Plantic Technologies.

AUSPACK PLUS event director Rob Keen said there was increasing demand for the packaging industry to use products that are biodegradable and compostable.

“The bioplastics industry has developed rapidly in recent years: companies are expanding their production capacities and product offerings,” he said.

“The AUSPACK PLUS Bioplastics pavilion will enable members of the industry to see an extensive range of products and technologies that are available in Australia.”

The pavilion will provide an opportunity for the bioplastics industry to present their products, properties and applications.

Managing Director Richard Fine of BioPak said the Pavilion would provide a single location to showcase the developments in the field of bioplastics and sustainable packaging technology.

“Companies considering bioplastic packaging have the opportunity to explore and compare a wide range of materials and solutions,” he said.

“Members of the Australasian Bioplastics Association are all focused on building awareness and educating business and consumers about the benefits of bioplastic packaging.

“With all members in one area under the ABA pavilion provides potential customers the confidence that material and product claims are validated and meet industry standards.”

AUSPACK PLUS is an biennial event owned and presented by the Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association.

AUSPACK PLUS 2011 will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from Tuesday the 22nd through to Friday the 25th of March 2011.
