Plastics and Waste Seminar
While recycling of plastics continues to increase, the consumption of plastics in packaging and other products also continues to rise. The net result is that increasing amounts of plastic are going to landfill. This trend will continue as more durable plastics, such as waste electronics and electrical equipment, enter the waste stream.
The technology for recovery, sorting and recycling of plastics waste has been developing rapidly overseas, particularly inEurope. However, implementation of these technologies is lagging inAustraliafor a variety of reasons, including low awareness.
This seminar will provide detailed technical information on new developments in plastics and waste technology with opportunities for discussion and networking. The possible implications for sustainability will also be addressed in the program.
This seminar is presented jointly by the Waste Management Association of Australia (WMAA) and the Society of Plastics Engineers: Australia– New Zealand Section (SPE) to be held in Melbourne on Tuesday 29th November 2011.
